One day for no reason at all, my volume Icon disappeared from my task bar.
It is this slider here which controls my volume & I find it very convenient to have access to it.
Last time my volume Icon disappeared, I’d just had a Windows Upgrade & I was able to restore it very easily in a method I described in this previous video I made.
This time it just didn’t work, so I found a different way. I clicked on start, I typed in Volume & I clicked “Show or Hide Volume Icon. When I had the problem this toggle was showing Off, it was grayed out & I couldn’t shift it. I went to “Custom Notification Icons” & I saw that the “show Icons & Notifications” was enabled – no problem there. I tried 2 “Restore Icon behaviours” & that made no difference either. Here’s my order of Google search. 1st of all, I typed in 7 forums, then Tutorials I found, then I typed in “System Icons” & this was the link I was wanting to arrive at – http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19085-system-icons-enable-disable.html
I’ll go through those steps now. In Google search I typed in “7 Forums” & I clicked on that & I clicked on Tutorials. In this search bar, I typed in “System Icons”, clicked. I scrolled down & I found the link I was looking for : “Systems Icons – enable or disable – Wins 7 help forum”
I clicked on that. Here is the page I was looking for & I scrolled down. I scrolled down until I found “Option Two” I found this by far the easiest way to restore my Volume Icon. I found “To enable the volume Icon” & I clicked on this download & I followed these instructions here. “Save file to desktop” “Click on file to merge it” “Click run, yes , ok when presented” I restarted my computer to fully apply & they say you can delete that .reg file if you like. I found my Volume Icon was restored I I’m fully functional again.
I’ll quickly run through the steps. Click download & click Open, click Run. I trust the sourse of this information, I click Yes to continue. This file has been successfully added to the registry – I click ok & all is done. I found my Volume Icon beautifully restored. I trust that is of use to you.
