How To Sync/Back up Sage ACT! Files automatically as you work 

Sage ACT! (earlier known as ACT! by Sage) is a customer relationship management

(CRM) software application which is used to keep track of client and prospect details

in a single database that can be shared by multiple users

GoodSync can perform backups (1-way syncs) and limited 2-way syncs of ACT! data.

The following information will guide you on how to properly setup a backup of your ACT! data:

  1. Stop the MSSQL ACT! service temporarily to be able to sync files:
  2. In Windows, select Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
  3. In Wins7 – select Start – All Programs – Administrative tools – Services
  4. Locate the service named “MSSQL$ACT7” (or something similar).
  5. Right click the service name and “STOP” the service.
  6. ow open GoodSync and click Browse on the left side and select ACT! data folder.
  7. Click Browse on the right side, selecting where you would like to back up or sync your data to.
  8. Make sure that job direction is what you want: Go to Job > Options > 1 – Way Left to Right> to backup or Job > Options > 2 – Way to sync.
  9. Start the sync/backup process by clicking the Analyze button.
  10. Examine the file copy actions that Analyze proposes and make sure they are what you want.
  11. Click the Sync button to complete your sync/backup.
  12. You can now go back to the service, right click the ACT! service name and choose START to restart the service.

How To Back up QuickBooks Files As you work, automatically

QuickBooks is more than secure online accounting.
It’s your business organized in one place.

You can have backups going on continuously as you work (1-way syncs)

The following information will guide you on how to properly setup a backup of your QuickBooks data:

  1. QuickBooks stores all company data in one file named CompanyName.QBW. Perform Quick Books back up operation . It validates data stored in *.QBW file and copies to *.QBB file.
  2. QuickBooks must be closed before you start the backup.
  3. Start GoodSync and click Browse on the left side and select the folder that contains QuickBooks *.QBW to back up.
  4. Click Browse on the right side to select folder to back up to.
  5. Make sure that job direction is what you want: Go to Job > Options > 1- Way Left to Right to backup
  6. Start the backup process by clicking the Analyze button.
  7. Examine the file copy actions that Analyze proposes and make sure they are what you want.
    1. Click the Sync button to commit the proposed transfer of files to the Backup location
